FED:Future bright for prostate sufferers
A world leader in the treatment of prostate cancer says he's optimistic for what the
future holds for sufferers of the disease.
Professor PETER SCARDINO from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Council in New York
has told an international conference on the Gold coast new technologies like focal therapy
could allow small cancers to be destroyed without destroying the entire prostate.
This would reduce bowel .. sexual and urinary complications.
Prof SCARDINO says screening for prostate cancer may help .. with a new study showing
death rates have dropped by 50 per cent.
Prostate cancer affects one in nine men and kills more than three-thousand Australian
men every year.
