NSW: NRMA expecting rise in petrol prices over Easter

SYDNEY, April 2 AAP - The NRMA is tipping a rise in NSW petrol prices ahead of this
weekend's Easter break.

NRMA motoring services president Alan Evans said while prices had dropped at the weekend,
he would expect them to rise again over the next few days.

He said prices over the four-day long weekend could reach 140 cents per litre.

"I certainly think we will see a four or five cent increase over the next few days,"

he said today.

"The (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) ACCC monitoring will moderate
the oil companies' behaviour to some extent but the best thing would be if the prime minister
gave the ACCC real powers."

The cheapest petrol in Sydney today is 118.9cpl, in the south-west, according to the
NRMA website.

The highest Sydney price at 11.30am (AEST) was 129.9cpl.
