Fed: House building prices dip, other building prices up

New figures indicate house building material prices eased marginally in Australia in
the first three months of the year.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics index of materials used in house building fell
0.2 per cent in the March quarter, but is up 0.3 per cent over the past 12 months.

The ABS says the quarterly decrease is due to lower prices for structural timber and
ready-mixed concrete.

The accompanying index of prices for materials used in non-house building edged up
0.3 per cent for the quarter and the past 12 months.
