NSW: Facts about further drought relief measures
The new drought relief measures announced by the NSW government today include:
* Extending transport, water and fodder subsidies to also include core production stock.
* Extension of the criteria for special conservation loans to also include:
- dam desilting
- major repairs to stock-water systems
- piping and storage of stock water, and
- planting of perennial species such as lucerne and oldman saltbush.
* Extension of the criteria for assessing the transport subsidies to include fulltimefarmers who have had to find off-farm work to supplement their income in order to survive.
* The provision of free transport for fodder that has been purchased through drought appeals.
* Meeting of the West 2000 Board to consider providing more funds for piping of stockwater and for future exclusion fencing.
